modelling leadership from the inside
The Scott Wilson Study highlighted a need for greater consistency in the management of the European Structural Funds by the nine autonomous regional Government Offices.
The challenges were practical :
|
how to implement a single consistent approach across nine very autonomous offices? |
|
and, with each Office successfully meeting objectives, how to create both the incentive and the structure for staff to change their existing practice, and divert internal resource to create a new training programme? |
Our story
With no authority over the end product - or guarantee of acceptance, our success in meeting the Government Offices’ needs depended entirely on our ability to model our own understanding of leadership - creating a vision to co-opt, unite and inspire GO staff.
The benefits of our work have been multi-tiered : our clients at GO have a comprehensive training programme which absolutely meets their needs, GO staff have benefited from skill transfer from Faraday ; communication channels are in place to share best practice and experience ; and GO staff across all the network have experienced a heightened sense of teamwork and collaboration.
CLG, our funding client, on the other hand, has been seen to support GO without being directive, entirely in alignment with its own principles : working with what really happens and what people really need.
